Segovia and Castle Alcazar

Here are some pictures of the sites I've seen in Segovia so far!

Pictures of the famous castle here, Alcazar, taken by Chris. If it looks familiar it's because people speculate it served as inspiration for Walt Disney world!

The gorgeous castle chapel ceiling.

This chair was beautiful - a simple structure, but the detail was ornate.

At one point the castle was an artillery school - these were some jars on display, I believe they hold materials of some sort.

The famous aqueduct - it's been immaculately restored - and absolutely no mortar was used in it's construction.

A cultural festival took place this weekend.

I just thought these were cute.

Murals, faux-finishes, and tons of inspiration from the talented Allison Cosmos

When I was back in high school I used to make extra money by painting murals - mostly in kids rooms. It was rewarding but very,very hard work. So I have a deep appreciation for people like Allison who are so talented - and tolerant of sore necks!

Allison Cosmos is the artist who completed these murals and gorgeous faux finishes. Which is your favorite?

Those curtains are painted on the ceiling!

Love the crisp contrast of the geometric pattern on the floor - and that you can still see the wood grain through it!

"Around the fireplace, a soft botanical garland gently falls from the top. The walls, ceiling, moldings & floors received color-washed & dragged finishes. "

*drool* The cupboard and detail above are my favorite. I love the delicate detail and the line quality!

Gorgeous bedding and loungerie - sweet, lovely patterns!

It's taken me awhile to dig through my emails since moving - and I'm so glad I rediscovered an email introducing me to Plum Pretty Sugar. Made from fabrics the creator picks up in her travels throughout India - her "loungerie" and bedding mixes romantic exoticism with the chic simplicity of modern homes and women. I want so many of her products --- though I think that the "lounge cardigan" is calling my name the loudest!

I would also adore a knee-length kimono style robe in pink love poppy...so sweet

and some bedding in dreams in paisley!

I was recently introduced to Swedish artist/designer Lena's work and I think it's worth a share! Being from a farm, I appreciate the natural forms and organic lines she uses. Which do you like?

Van's home was featured in the November 2004 issue of World of Interiors! She was kind enough to share it with me and let me post it on Decorology. Van is one cool lady who has lived and worked all over the world and is known as the "Zing Girl," and is a branding and design guru. As you can tell from these photos - her husband's (a sculptor) studio is also their home. Pretty cool!
