This year for our Willows' Christmas party we decided we would all go out to eat and end the night at my house for dessert (and drinks) and an always entertaining white elephant gift exchange. We teamed up with the lovely crew from Healy Bea and all met for dinner at the Parlor, which, as expected, was delicious. Then we all headed over to my house to pile into my living room with cake, coffee (bailey's or kahlua?) and some mighty interesting white elephant gifts. Needless to say, we had loads of laughs and lots of fun. The holidays can certainly be crazy, but I love the reminder of how important and wonderful it is to surround yourself with friends and family... and laughter.

We did a pretty good job on dessert...

And the girls from the store surprised me with this lovely gift...

Thanks, ladies! It sure was a lot of fun!

Surgery Planned...and Merry Christmas!

Part I

Part II
I know if you have been following the last few weeks, you know I injured my shoulder. I had a MRI on the 16th and met with the doctor today for the results. I definitely have a torn rotator cuff and a bone spur. I will be having surgery December 29th to repair it. I will be in a sling for about 4 weeks with therapy. I should be totally healed in 6-9 months. The good news is that I am getting it fixed now, instead of waiting when there could be more complications. Other good news is that I will be encouraged to use my elbow, wrist and fingers, so I should be able to type and probably even mosaic...fingers crossed!

I want to wish you all Peace on Earth, a very Merry Christmas and a healthy, prosperous New Year! I am taking a blog break until the New Year.

A Christmas Tea

Hello everyone!

We are having a wet and very windy day here as a northeaster is stalled over us for a few days. If the temp was a little colder , we would be loaded with snow but alas not a flake of the white stuff! Well, as we always say here at least we don't have to shovel it !

Since it is a wild and wooly day her I enjoyed spending some time in the kitchen ,making a pot of carrot soup and scones-comfort food. I also made these apple cranberry strudel muffins to enjoy with a good cup of tea.

This is one of my favorite teacups- a gift from my sweet husband.

The teapot is an old one that I bought in an antique shop in Maine on one of our little trips across the border.

Go ahead pour yourself a nice cup of tea and grab a muffin or two as well.

The snowy picture below came from Helene Flont today in my emails. It put a smile on my face as it may be the only snow I will see this Christmas although some flurries are predicted for Christmas Eve so I am hopeful still. Thank you Helene, I love that you took the time to send this to me! Helene is a lovely artist and you can see her beautiful blogs here.

Well, I hope you enjoyed a little break in your busy day. I still have a few presents to buy so I better hit the mall tomorrow. I know you probably have yours all wrapped and ready to go but I can be a procrastinator sometimes- I hope you haven't noticed that!!!
With all this wind I wouldn't be surprised if we lost power for awhile- a tree came down in our garden just missing our power line- phew!
