You won't believe where these beautiful rooms are from!

I was shocked - really - when I opened up the most recent issue of the Ballard Designs catalog. They've really upped the ante on their styling. It's relaxed and glamorous at the same time. (Click on each image for a larger view)

Love cream and light blue

I like the Moroccan style rug in the picture above. They have it in a couple other colors as well.

Happy Friday! I think this space out of House Beautiful is a refreshing change of pace in that it keeps with a lot of the Scandinavian characteristics we all know and love, but diverges from everything being based in white and takes on a warmer, more country feel. What do you think?

As you all know I'm a big fan of Scandinavian interiors, so I thought the lovely home of this young couple was worth sharing. It's a bit too "all white" for me, as my tastes have changed a little over the past year, but I still appreciate the rooms on an individual level.

Love the candelabra in the bathroom!

This is my favorite shot - the fabric inspiration board looks like art and ads a little personality to the place.

I have to admit I am not into the whole cow hide trend. I think the living room would look cozier with a regular rug, and instead of the two dining room chairs on the opposite side of the coffee table, something a little plusher.

What do you think of this place? What would you change?

The National Stationery Show - my favorite display

I didn't attend the show this year, but there is tons of coverage to be found on all the beautiful art, papers, and latest stationery trends on various blogs. When I was walking down 7th Ave. in Park Slope last week I noticed that the local paperie, Lion in the Sun, had a gorgeous window display - below are a few pictures and the link to the blog post where they talk about it's creation.

Adorable isn't it?! Next time I walk by I plan on bringing my camera and snapping some of my own photos. I also noticed noticed on their blog that they mentioned the display being inspired by the display of Hello Lucky’s Trade show booth from the NSS. So I did a little internet sleuthing and finally found some photos of their display on the blog Oh So Beautiful Paper.

I hope you find this as inspiring as I do - I think this idea could translate well on so many mediums - you could draw little frames with a sharpie on a linen or canvas inspiration board and pin your inspirational cards, photos, etc. within the frames, you could buy a natural colored picture frame with a wide border and draw on the actual frame a more ornate frame, what else? Any other ideas?

I was pleasantly surprised at some very positive design changes in Southern Living's October issue. They definitely have a fresher looks with better typography, cute graphics, and clearer photography. All in all, they've modernized the look and the content. They have lots of interesting columns which you can see in this video

Here are some of my favs from the issue:

A new "Done in a Day" column, which features DIY decorating projects you can complete in a day. For instructions for the Family Command Center, click here.

They review Southern artists and shops, such as the Wildflower Cafe & Country Store in Alabama, and the Cochrans of Wood Studio, also in Alabama, who made this gorgeous rocker.

An example of the great new styling and photography you'll find - I love this last picture with the console and the white chair!

Gorgeous home office and organization inspiration

I have a feeling after looking at these photos that I'll be decorating my office more than working in it today!

This wall was painted with a magnetic paint

Too small for me but I think it's helpful to have a little surface in the kitchen dedicated to writing or a laptop for looking up recipes - too many times has muffin batter ended up all over it.
