An eco-friendly, US-made friendly new store with absolutely gorgeous home decor!

0
I was introduced to this store by the owners and I was really, really impressed when I looked at the website. They obviously have really great taste as anyone can see by their collection of found and vintage pieces - and some of their own designs! (Talented hubby even builds some of the furniture!}

Their philosophy is one I like as well - "We believe that homes should be a cultivation of things you love and need and we take that approach in finding our products. Our focus is on community and sustainability so we try to source as much as possible from small, u.s. companies and many of our furniture pieces are made from salvaged wood or repurposed pieces."

Below I've pulled a few of my favs. They also carry a lot of smaller home goods - candles, pottery, tea towels, etc.

Tips to get a "Modern Cottage" look

0
I love these tips from The Inglenook Decor on how to create a modern cottage.

1. Have a neutral back drop. Go for creams, white, beige, gray (like the one shown below), clay, sage & light browns.

2. Choose furniture pieces that are fuss-free. Go for clean lines & comfort. Make it livable & cozy like upholstered furniture whether it's the sofa, dining chairs or a headboard.

3. Have white....lots of it! This picture says it all, white is not boring if you choose the right pieces.

4. Have at least one piece, a wall or a window with a bold pattern & color. Bright orange & greens seem to go real well with white.

5. Have a ledge display of your flea market finds.

6. Add ultra modern pieces in steel, aluminum, brushed nickel or chrome pieces. And last but not the least, keep it simple!

Pretty good tips huh?

The site also has lots of cute accessories to create looks such as "French Country," "Modern Vintage," "Rococo," and "Shabby Chic."

Gorgeous, Glamorous, and Casual!

A casual base with touches of glamor is how I prefer to dress - on the rare occurrence that I leave my house and need to look presentable. On the farm I spend my days in old jeans and sweaters because I don't worry about them getting muddy or ripped or succumbing to any other sort of farm-induced damage. But, every now and then I need to feel like a girl again and get a little dressed up and go out. I've liked Ann Taylor Loft for a long time, and I've really been liking their Holiday '09 collection.

The plum of this scarf is my new favorite color. I thought this tweed jacket was really cute, too.

They have so many soft sweaters in their "lounge" line, I would wear them throughout the day even when I wasn't lounging

Some cute looks from their lookbook

Unfortunately a lot of the cute stuff I saw in their store is nowhere to be found on their site

Etsy Find: The cheerful paintings of Leelu and Piggy

I have another talented Etsy artist to share with everyone. These paintings invoke a sunny weekend morning where one has hours to linger over breakfast at the kitchen table.
Go to the Leelu and Piggy shop to see more!

So today I discovered Hudson, a store in Boston. Oh so lovely does the shop look! I might actually be accompanying my roommates next time they go to visit family just so I can visit!
