SUPER Glamourous French and Shabby Chic furniture

You'll love this shop I'm sure - Sweetpea and Willow, in Ireland and London, has so many gorgeous things I could furnish my whole house with their stuff!

Okay - this bed. I LOVE that the opulent white wash frame is paired with a modest gray linen. Seriously I might have to get this bed one day.

Isn't this the cutest chair?

What do you think? Think you could find a thing or two you like?

Check out my article in Nesting Newbies Magazine

Nesting Newbies is a great new online magazine with useful features on cooking, entertaining, lifestyle, and home decorating - geared towards the new home owner or renter. I was flattered to be asked to compile a list regarding "If money were no object, what would you buy for your home right now"

Go to Nesting Newbies, Issue 3, and see the article on page 162.

Here's what I had to say:
If budget was no option, what would you buy for your home right now?

I like a look that blends a little rustic, a little feminine, and a little eclectic. I like mixing styles because it makes it so much easier to incorporate a new piece that you fall in love with, without having to worry whether or not it fits in with the rest of your decor. So, here are three things I'd love to have in my home right now:

A bed with classic good looks. A bed is a piece you should invest in, and you want something that isn't too trendy or you won't get tired of looking at in a year. I love the clean shape of Crate and Barrel's Colette bed paired with the subtle "toughness" added via pewter nail heads and a natural linen texture

I've been wanting a mirrored dresser for a long time, and I like Anthropologie's version which features a "dappled" look. The patina keeps it from looking too precious or overly glamorous

A pair of these chandeliers from my favorite San Francisco shop, Bae. I'd love to put these over a farm table or industrial style dining table from reclaimed wood.

Help sourcing a headboard?

So a reader wrote in with this question:
"I just moved into a new apartment, and the colors in my apartment are red, black & white, and I have just fallen in love with the red velvet headboard used by Stephen Shubel in one of the bedrooms he designed. Can you tell me where I can purchase one, and what size bed does the headboard fit?"

Below is the headboard in question:

Here is the story which first featured the headboard in House Beautiful
The bed is mentioned, but no source was listed, so I'm thinking it's custom made. If I am incorrect - I would love to know it's source!

In the meantime, I've gathered up some alternatives. The red seems to be the hard part to fine. Upholstered headboard and velvet are both in style, so we're lucky in that sense.

I believe Jonathon Adler offers the closest option, and you can choose your fabric.
See/read more here.

This option is from Skyline furniture, which also allows you to choose your fabric.

Here's an affordable version in popular gray from Urban Outfitters.

And last but not least, Simply Shabby Chic's version from Target.
So I open it up to you guys - know of any other similar headboards?

pretty pretty pretty! It's hump day and I needed a little lift to help me over. These are mostly lofts and/or converted barns. So peaceful.

I adore this bedroom - what a gorgeous ceiling! I also never realized how pretty yellow bedding can be. Anybody have yellow bedding?

I need to find out who painted that cloudscape above the tub!

This kitchen is a really successful blend of modern and country. It's warm and inviting - and still sleek and clean.

A stunning modern makeover for a victorian home

LivingEtc. is one of my favorite decorating magazines - most of their homes have a clean, modern-retro look, while still looking homey and lived in. This actresses home is no exception. Her renovation story is interesting and can be read here.

stunning, no?

*hint* she keeps her cream carpets spotless by having them professionally cleaned once every four months.

love this bed
