Country chic inspiration and DIY ideas

0
Now that I'm back at my parents' farm after my travels, and surrounded by all things rustic and country, I thought I'd dig through my picture folders and share some country interiors

Like the ceramic collection. The metal light fixtures keep this kitchen from being too kitschy country.

The three images below are all of Tony Shalhoub's house. I like how down to earth it is.

Such a relaxing bedroom

What do you think of the photos displayed on the sides of the stairs?

These are two cute ideas - take the back of an old chair and turn it into a towel rack, or take a ladder and turn it into shelves. What do you think?

I'm back from Europe - with a book giveaway!!

0
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be able to post on a regular basis again! The trip was absolutely amazing and I promise to share pictures of my boyfriend and my 9 week journey - but first I have to do some photo organizing. I thought I'd welcome everyone back with a book giveaway, Mark Montano's "Big-Ass Book of Home Decor." You can see samples of the book in my review post from May. To enter the giveaway just leave a comment telling me your favorite place (city, country, etc.) you've ever traveled, and why if you wish. Or you can email me your favorite place. The giveaway will be closed next Tuesday at 12am EST. Good luck!

And now, to warm up a bit - I thought I'd just publish some good old Decorology-style eye-candy. It's great to be back!

Reader question - Help source a paint color

0
Kimberly took a liking to this photo below, which I posted awhile back. She wanted to know the cabinet color.

After checking at the original source - this gallery in House and Home, I believe the cabinets are custom, so I thought I'd find some close options, and open up the question for you guys incase someone had some better ideas, or is even able to source the color!

Benjamin Moore had a lot of lovely options close to the cabinets - sweet daphne is fairly close.

Glidden's "Celery Sticks" is also close.

The below from Sherwin Williams are also good matches. Sherwin Williams, by the way, has a really great "virtual room" section on their website which lets you test colors on their photos or yours. I found their virtual room site better than many other paint company's.

6418- Rural Green

6417 - Tulepo Tree

6416 - Sassy Green

0014 - Sheraton Sage

Another great giveaway! Country Color by Judith Miller

I have another great giveaway for you guys this week. The book, Country Color is chock full of many GORGEOUS color photos. The style is country, but with a provincial quality too. I think I'll let the photos speak for themselves. How do you get your hands on this beauty? Just leave a comment on this post telling me what color you're loving these days for walls (any color - doesn't have to be "country"). You can also email me at ashley@decorologyblog.com to enter. The drawing closes on November 30th, at noon eastern time. I'll announce the winner shortly after. Good luck!

Classic country or Modern country? Which are you?

0
I like country style - but country style can encompass sooooo many looks. I thought I'd see which way you guys leaned - "traditional" country, or "modern" country.

Lets start with classic country:

Love this organized but full-of-charm home office.

Gorgeous - and the chicken wire screens are great too.

...or do you like a more contemporary country?

This bedroom is so stunning - and the monochromatic palette keeps the damask from being too busy for a bedroom

Amy Butler's workspace!

Which do you prefer?

I have no words.

I would love one of those chairs - I'd toss a chunky knit cream throw over it

oh...my dream bedroom - I love white and blue striped rugs.
